  8.                There are few regional patent or trademark offices.
  9.           One is the European Patent Office, which examines patent
  10.           applications and issues national patents in those of the
  11.           member countries (currently 14) chosen by the applicant.
  12.           Other regional offices include the English-speaking African
  13.           Industrial Property Office (ARIPO), the French-speaking
  14.           African Intellectual Property Organization (AIPO), and the
  15.           Benelux Trademark and Designs Office (Belgium, Luxembourg
  16.           and the Netherlands).
